Mark your Calendars

A few upcoming dates for the Daisy Troop!  We know December is a busy month - hope your girls can make the dates below. If you have any questions, please just let Betsy or I know!

December 13th at 5:30 p.m. - Monthly Meeting at the Library
We are going to be working on 2 things at this month's meeting - Project Shoe Box and Cookie Kick-off.
  • Project Shoebox is a town-wide community services project that is performed by
Medway Girl Scout troop of all age levels just before the Christmas and Hanukah
holiday season. The project offers our Girl Scouts a wonderful opportunity to
experience the joy of giving by putting together small presents for our town’s elderly residents. There are now 164 seniors in Medway elderly housing, and this means so much to them all.   The project consists of decorating shoeboxes and filling it with a variety of personal hygiene care products such as soaps, shampoo, toothpaste, comb and brush, body lotions, powder and other toiletries. It is also a great idea to include a small gift, game or craft that would be fun for a child who might come to visit the senior. Girls are encouraged to include a gift card as well. Please have your girls bring 2 items of this nature for the shoe box. We'll assemble the boxes together at our meeting.
  • The popular cookie selling season is kicking off!  We'll use our time together to talk with the girls about the cookie project, what it means and how it works.  We'd also love to use the last 5-10 minutes of our meeting to share with each of you how it works and to give you the packet of information.
If you can't make the meeting on the 13th, just let us know so that we can arrange to get you the cookie materials.

December 21st at 5:30 p.m.- Social Gathering: Christmas Lights at the Fatima Shrine
Let's take a walk together to view the beautiful Christmas lights at the Fatima Shrine located at 101 Summer Street in Holliston.  Please let us know if you can make it so that we can keep an eye out for you before heading out on the walk!

January 7th from 9-11 a.m. - Cookie Sales at Charles River Bank
Our Troop has this time slot on this Saturday morning to sell cookies at the local bank.  Should be a fun morning!  We'll share more information as we get closer, but for now save the date on your calendars!

January 25th at 5:30 p.m. - Monthly Meeting at the Library
We should be back on this normal schedule (last Wednesday of the month) in January!

11/16 Meeting

The girls learned the Girl Scout Promise at our November meeting.  A great discussion with the girls on what it means to serve God, country and help people at all times.  They had some great ideas!  This earned them the center circle of their daisy flower - so go ahead and iron on that first patch!

Here are a few pics of the girls making their own handprint pledge crafts.

Uniforms are in!
We picked up the uniforms & all the troop insignia this week.  The daisy petals package are on back-order - but should arrive before our next meeting (11/16).  I (Erin) will be at the library this Wednesday, 11/2 from 5:15-6:00 if you want to stop by to pick them up.  You can find me upstairs in the children's section.

Here is a picture to reference as you sew/iron on the patches to the vest.  Note - we don't have all the pieces shown on the image, but hopefully it's a good guide to get you started.

Upcoming events
  • Thursday, 11/3: Daisy & Brownie Night at  TC Scoops. One of the other Daisy troops is hosting this fun ice cream meet & greet from 5-8 p.m.  An opportunity to meet other leaders & troops in town.  This is not a fund-raising event. Girls should wear their vests if possible.  A special ice cream badge will be available for purchase at the event.
  • Saturday, 11/5: Medway Girl Scouts Sign-A-Long at the VFW from 6-7:30 p.m.  A fun night for girl scouts and their families with the talented Elaine Kessler.  Cost is $2 for each girl scout, and for all other family members simply bring a non-perishable food item.  If you are planning to attend, please leave a note here in the comments section by tomorrow so that we can get us pre-registered for the event.  Note: The $2 covers the special patch that will be available at the event.
  • Wednesday, 11/16: Next Troop Meeting at the Library from 5:15-6:15 p.m.

That's it for now - let us know if you have any questions!
